Pre-M.A.T. Information

Pre-Master of Arts in Teaching (Pre-M.A.T.) is the admission code given to an individual who has earned a bachelor's or master's degree and is not licensed to teach but wishes to do so. Through the UA Admissions Office, your program area would be EDUC and your plan would be PMAT. PMAT status is an undergraduate student who is taking courses required for admission to the M.A.T. but is not currently seeking a degree. Being admitted as a PMAT student allows the individual to pay undergraduate tuition and fees while completing the coursework requirements.

A grade of "C" or better must be earned in each of the following courses for admission to the M.A.T. degree program: ENGL 1013, ENGL 1023, COMM 1313, MATH 1203 (for elementary and middle level education only), and all pre-education core courses.

Programs of study, individual courses and licensure laws are always subject to state licensing change.

Prerequisites may exist; refer to the Catalog of Studies for more information.
