Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
The program Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is designed to prepare individuals in the United States and abroad to teach English to students whose first language is not English. Graduates also are prepared to create and implement curriculum and appropriate assessments for English as a second or foreign language (ESL). It is part of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
The University of Arkansas presented its inaugural, interactive Grow Your Own (GYO) Educators Convening, titled "Rooting Our Future Within Our Community" on Feb. 5, 2024. The symposium was sponsored by the U of A College of Education and Health Professions, the Walton Family Foundation, and Project REACH and Project ELEVATE.
