Professional Biography:
Raymond Keveren joined the Curriculum and Instruction Department in July 2007 after returning to the state from a year of studying wildlife biology at the University of Montana at Missoula. A native of northwestern Wisconsin, Raymond moved to Yellville, Ark., in 1990 with his family. In 1998, Raymond attended the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences in Hot Springs where he focused in the natural sciences. Raymond attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences studying French, Japanese and art history before returning to Arkansas and finishing his bachelor's degree in physical geography with a minor in art history and criticism in 2005.
Job Duties:
As Administrative Assistant I, Raymond serves as the administrative office supervisor for the administrative center of CIED and is the assistant to the department head. Raymond is responsible for special events planning for CIED, managing the calendar for the department head, assisting the Accounting Tech II, graduate coordinator, the deans, and other faculty as needed for projects ranging from academic to financial.
Academic Interests and Accomplishments:
Raymond is currently a graduate student working on a master's degree in geography at the University of Arkansas and plans to complete a doctorate in the geosciences with emphasis on arctic and boreal forest biogeography, plant systematics and floristics, climate change, and forest ecosystem management. He is a member of the Association of American Geographers and Gamma Theta Upsilon.Personal Information:
His hobbies are ancient and medieval art history, classical languages, Japanese language, culture, and society, amateur videography, amateur speed skating, alpine skiing and animal rescue.
