The Secondary Education Program offers the Master of Education (M.Ed.) and the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT). The M.Ed. program is designed for individuals who already hold a teaching license in secondary education. The MAT is the initial licensing program in secondary education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Students enter the MAT if they hold a bachelor’s degree in a teaching content area (e.g. science, history, English).
The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) is a degree program of 33-34 semester hours. The M.A.T. degree is the initial teacher licensure program for students at the University of Arkansas.
