Research Interests:

Dr. Carnine directs the Research and Advocacy Network, which is a consortium of member school districts. The Network sponsors "whitepapers" on a variety of emerging educational issues in K-12 education in Arkansas.

Professional Biography:

Les Carnine has served over 40 years in education, which includes experience as a classroom teacher, counselor, junior high and high school principal, assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent and last 20 years as a superintendent of schools. He has been an adjunct professor at Texas A & M University-East Texas, Kansas State University and the University of Arkansas. Dr. Carnine is an emeritus member of Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators and the American Association of School Administrators. In addition, he holds life memberships in a number of allied educational related associations.

Dr. Carnine's service to school districts has primarily been in urban school districts that include Little Rock, Ark., and Wichita Falls, Texas. He has been a member and officer in a number of professional associations that have recognized his service contributions, i.e., President of Urban Superintendents of America. He was named Administrator of the Year by Arkansas PTA and has been recognized in Who’s Who in American Education.
