Professional Biography:

Susan Riggs has taught literacy-related courses at The University of Arkansas since 1987. Before that, she was a teacher of English/Language Arts for 7 years in Texas and was involved in curriculum development and giving workshops there. She also worked in reading clinics in Florida, including the reading clinic at Florida State University, where she served as a diagnostician and tutor.

At The University of Arkansas, Ms. Riggs currently works with Childhood Education seniors in their literacy and methods courses. She is involved in the partnership with Holcomb Elementary School in Fayetteville. She is a member of the International Reading Association, the Arkansas Reading Association, the Northwest Arkansas Reading Council, and Gamma Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Personal Information:

Ms. Riggs is married to Charles Riggs and is the mother of two adult children and the proud grandmother of two. Her hobby is genealogy, which she uses in her methods courses to teach the importance of making history relevant.
